Home School Enrichment Program (HEP)
Our Home School Enrichment Program (formally HOE) provides a middle school curriculum Monday through Friday to students at 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels at the Hui Malama Youth Center located on Main Street in Wailuku.
Home School Enrichment is designed to support the educational growth and development of students who are home schooled. This program is not intended to replace home school but to enrich and enhance the educational curriculum provide at home. Home School is also intended to fill a gap in Maui’s traditional educational system that does not address certain needs of the student. Many of Maui’s youth are challenged with physical, emotional, and social difficulties. These students do not thrive in the typical classroom setting. They need to be physically, emotionally, and socially engaged in a learning process that is focused on real problems that they know they can fix. Ours is a holistic approach that asks each student to address all aspects of his or her life (emotional, spiritual, family, friends, recreational, physical) in order to improve academic performance. All of Hui Malama’s Programs are values driven. By incorporating the Hawaiian core value system into school activities, we support students to practice implementing these values in their daily life. The list of values below is long, but not complete.
