The enrollment process at Hui Malama Learning Center is outlined below. See also the “Important information” at the bottom of this page.
The enrollment process:
- Call Hui Malama to schedule an assessment interview. The assessment interview involves an initial assessment test as well as an intake interview with the interested student and their parent/guardians.
- Place the student in the appropriate class. If the class is full, the student will be placed on a waiting list.
- Work out a financial plan for the school year.
- Schedule an appointment for additional assessment tests in order to complete the student’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for the school year.
- Schedule the first day the student will report to school. Parent/guardians will be updated quarterly as to the progress of their child’s Individual Learning Plan and school progress.

- Class placement is based on age, test scores and availability of classes.
- Students will be notified of class schedule and start date once assessment test results have been evaluated.
- Students are required to have a 4140 Release before their first day of class.
- Tuition must be paid prior to the start of class in order to hold a space. Tuition assistance is available.
- Middle School and High School have open enrollment throughout the school year based on space availability. Hui Malama’s school year follows the DOE calendar.
- Co-curricular activities are built into the middle and high school curriculum.
- Supplemental education is provided by the Office of Youth Services at no charge.
- Tutoring and career development available.
- Individualized instruction. 1:10 class size ratio.
- All Hui Malama teachers are accredited, qualified and fully trained.
